Manaslu has been decalred as conservation area in 1998 by the government of Nepal. It covers an area of 1663 sq KM.The area harbors a mosaic of habitats that inhabits several species of animals and birds. Manaslu conservation area is in the mansiri Himalayan range of the Himalayas in Gorkha district. The area comprises mountains, glaciers and water courses. In elevation the area ranges from 1400 to 8156m at the peak of Manaslu.
